1. How do I correct the top hat closing sound. When I close it there are two sounds that alternate on their own with no specific pattern. Seems related to how fast I close the pedal. One sound is like a normal closing top hat and the other is like a crash cymbal type sound.
2. Can't seem to get the triple-zone cymbal to work. Just want to use the bell, bow, and edge. Have changed to switch and see message to use Perc1. Need help please.

Make sure you are using the right cymbal as one will choke and the other will not. You may need to switch them around. If you are having hihat troubles you may calibrate the pedal with the following:
1. Connect the hi-hat pedal to the module but do not press it down.
2. On the module, press EXT TRIG.
3. You will see a page with items including "Sensitvty" and "Function." Use the CURSOR UP / DOWN buttons to highlight the "Input" field at the top of the screen then use the VALUE UP / DOWN buttons to select "HiHat."
4. Press CAL (F4).
5. With the hi-hat pedal completely raised ("open"), press CAL OPEN
(F1 or F2) and wait for a message saying the process is complete.
6. With the hi-hat pedal completely pressed ("closed"), press CAL
CLSED (F3 or F4) and wait for a message saying the process is complete.
7. Press EXIT to exit the calibration page (or press DRUM KIT to return to the main screen). -

Hi,
I have connected all peripherals into the DM10 module as per the Quickstart guide on the Alesis website. The A input on the ride cymbal is connected to the Ride 1 module input, and the B input on the ride cymbal is connected to Ride2/Perc1 module input. The Mode of the cymbal is 3 zone. The Input Type of the Ride cymbal is Switch.
I am able to strike the Bow and choke the ride cymbal, however I cannot get the Bell to sound. What can I do to be able to use the bow, bell and choke functions of the ride cymbal?
Thanks
Mike

Michael, have you adjusted this section?
----------------------------------------
You should adjust this setting for the kind of ride cymbal you are using – a dual-zone ride (which has bow and bell triggers) or a three-zone ride (which has edge, bow, and bell triggers).
To do this:
1. Press EXT TRIG to enter the main Ext. Trig Menu page.
2. Select the ride's bow or bell by pressing NOTE CHASE then
striking that zone on your cymbal trigger. Alternatively, you can highlight the trigger name at the top of the screen using the CURSOR UP / DOWN buttons to highlight it and use the VALUE UP / DOWN buttons or VALUE DIAL to select either "RideBell" or "RideBow."
3. Press MODE (F4).
4. Use VALUE UP / DOWN buttons or the VALUE DIAL to select "2 Zones" if your ride cymbal is a dual-
zone or "3 Zones" if your ride cymbal is a three-zone.
5. When you have finished making your edits, you can press EXIT or any button that will enter another
screen (e.g., DRUM KIT, UTILITY, etc. Your edits will remain for that session (i.e., until you turn off the module). -

Ref: Top hat calibration.
I had calibrated the top hat with success from day one. The top hat has a sound I like when closing but it is NOT consistant or dependable. Sometimes when closing it sounds like a crash cymbal which I don't like.- view 6 more comments

Yes I do have the DMPad 14" Ride Cymbal. I found, (after making the EXT TRIG changes per manual and your instruction), that the edge, bow, and bell worked in some factory preset drums kits. So at least I know that it is working
BUT I have to really apply some POWER to my striking the edge compared to my normal striking force for the bow and bell. So now is there a setting or something I can do to adjust the EDGE sensitivity to be somewhat comparative to the bell?
And also after the process of editing the 3-Zone cymbal for it's use you stated "Your edits will remain for that session (i.e., until you turn off the module). You mean I have to set up the 3-Zone each time I turn on the unit to play? That the settings can not be saved? -

You can use "store" to save the global setting if you would like. If you go to "INP" page of the Ext Trig Menus you will see sensitivity as a parameter. Keep in mind that the edge sound will be harder to trigger so you don't have the edge triggering from the rides vibrations.

Check the input type of the 'trigger parameters' as well:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Press EXT TRIG to enter the main Ext. Trig Menu page.
The first page shown should be INP (F1).
2. Select the trigger whose parameters you want to edit by
pressing NOTE CHASE then striking the desired trigger. Alternatively, you can highlight the trigger name at the top of the screen using the CURSOR UP / DOWN buttons to highlight it and use the VALUE UP / DOWN buttons or VALUE DIAL to change it.
3. Use CURSOR UP / DOWN to move through the menu items and VALUE UP / DOWN buttons or the VALUE DIAL to adjust the settings:
• InputType: Select the type of trigger you have connected to the input. Select "PIEZO" for triggers like pads or cymbals. Select "SWITCH" if you are using a drum pad with a rim switch, a cymbal with an edge switch, or a footswitch. (Note: This parameter is only seen on certain pages.)

Hi,
As stated in my initial post, I have already tried all of these options. Can someone please attend to my issue without replying with a reference to the operator's manual, which I have already consulted and acted upon?
I will repeat my initial post here:

Think the 3-Zone issue is done.
So that leaves the Top Hat issue. I have removed the write protect and calibrated the top hat in the open and closed position per the manual.
I know how to select the voice for the top hat in the closed (playing) position. When pressing down on the foot pedal top close the top hat the sound I have is what I want. But for some reason when I press the foot pedal down repeatedly the sound will change erratically to a different sound and may or may not return to the original sound until I stop. When I start again it's the sound of closing I want then the same thing happens as previously discribed. Damn embarrassing when in public.
How do I stop this stray unwanted sound? Want my sounds to be my choice and reliable.

What about the trim option?
Exactly what does it do or can it remove or help remove the unwanted sound? -
-
Yeah setting the HH splash to "not sent" but you said you already did that. Give us a call please.

Might have a bad connection or cable. If you feel it is your trigger give us a call.

F Johnson, I initially had a similar highhat problem with heel to toes.... erratic open highhat sounds on multiple heel to toes. I resolved the issue by 1st calibrating the highhat. That wasn't enough though. I then went into the trim setting, its been a while now but I think closed was set a 38, I upped it to 41. I think I also changed the curve to log2. Seems to have done the trick for me. (I believe the actual problem is a slight variance in the reostat variable resister inside the footpedal) Hope this helps if you or anyone else has the issue

Thanks SubZerQQ
I had already found that by changing the variance in the trim that it had an effect on the unwanted sound.
I appreciate your reply, Thanks -
