Hey there!
First up my appreciation that Alesis is supporting products that aren't sold anymore. This is definitely not usual for most manufacturers - Thumbs up!
But unfortunately I got a problem with my new iO|26 Interface operating on my MacBook Pro (OS X Lion 10.7.4).
My studio monitors with digital inputs I use at the S/PDIF output of the interface. The volume should be parallel to the Analog Out 1/2, controlled by the main level knob, but in my case it's not.
That means even with a setting of "Main Volume 0%" my Speakers are getting the full volume (Alesis HDM 1.30)!
This is a big problem in the daily workflow, because there's not always a software master-fader.
I would be really thankful for your support!
Greetings from Hamburg,

Is the SPDIF out selected as "analog 1-2" in the HDM panel? If so, it should be a duplication.
-

Yes it is, otherwise I'm getting no Mac Sounds (Safari, iTunes etc.) to my speakers. In the mac sound output settings I've choose Alesis Firewire, the normal mac volume controls are then deactivated, what should be okay.
This is my Alesis HDM. Exactly why I was doing this screenshot, I got full volume to my S/PDIF output. If I use the Analog Outputs 1/2 to my Hifi-Amp, the Main Level control is working... -

You may want to try a fresh install of your driver/panel.
These are statements from your documentation, so it should work as you desire:
The S/PDIF output mirrors the volume of the analog 1/2 outputs. Changes made to the main volume encoder on the front of the unit, and changes made to the +4/-10 output level switches on the Hardware Direct Monitoring application, will change the level of the S/PDIF output. -

Unfortunately I've done a reinstall a few times the last days...

So you can adjust the Volume of your SPDIF Output with the Main Level? Tried that with Lion?
What do you mean with "not connected"? As I've said, when I use the Analog Outs 1-2 instead, the volume control works perfectly.-
Sorry that was another HDM case Im working on as well, sorry. Unrelated to your case.
Ill have to test with my Lion computer when i get time to further understand what your experiencing. -

It is extremely easy to understand what I'm experiencing:
Just connect any device (f.e. a monitor-speaker) to the SPDIF-output jack of the iO26 and try to adjust the volume with your Main Level-Knob.
Then update the driver. Thanks! -

So I have to send my Alesis Interface back to my reseller (warranty) and tell them no driver support.
-
Seems like you had the driver working?
-
-
Yes, the drivers is running on 10.7, but limited, as I've explained detailed in this topic! There seems to be no help by Alesis = no driver support.
A common problem with no volume control of the digital output: If you open a software, internet-ad that has no volume fader, the speakers are screaming loud as hell because always driven on full volume... Not very nice. -

So thats it? I just need to turn down the volume of my SPDIF output! :(
