Io dock hiss [PLEASE UPDATE to iOS5.1 to FIX]

When using io dock with various guitar amp apps on iPad 2 iOS 5, the sound drops and is replaced by hiss. Anyone else getting this?

I just have one questions: Did apple fix your product? I am getting news that apples fix to the iodock is not consistent and that clients are getting low volumes and recording issues. David? little help?

    happy I’m curious.
Wow, never have I seen such a group of whiners as on this forum. People complaining about something Alesis clearly had no control over. Obviously the IO Dock worked at one point, then Apple releases an iOS update that mucks something up. Something that is out of Alesis control. And now 5.1 is out and it fixes the problem, right? Big deal? I'm laughing at all the people whining about having permanent hearing loss because of the IO Dock making loud noises or screeching or whatever. Get a life already.

And, BTW, I'm following this thread because I'm considering buying one, and I want to know if the 5.1 update REALLY fixes all the issues. Does it?

    • Agreed, your argument is invalid as you don't even own the product. Those who have experienced the ear splitting noise emitted from this unit know only to well that it is a dangerous product, and alesis continued to promote it as working.

It is not whining, it is concern for our fellow musicians, and as others have stated making people aware as to what had taken place here.

Hey, I think a new version of Ejay is out, you should rush out and buy it..

Haha Jeffro you are so naive. The main point has been the safety issue revolving around the bursts of white noise. And in response to your question friends of mine still have issues with the dock. Apogee products work perfectly, go figure....

Can someone set up a decent forum that holds more than 15 responses, there are some good points being made here that are getting lost forever. As for Alesis trying to make out this is all one person, haha, I personally know at least 5 people who have had issues, so good try but really there are plenty of people out there with an Alesis beef

Please don't delete this post, Alesis. I'm trying to get an answer.

In my part, after the update, the dock is working as it should, I can use my synth as a controller for the Garageband app, recorded using my dynamic mic and tried also my condenser with it.. didn't experience any static noises/loud hiss like before. With the outputs, they're all working fine.. volume wise.. it's clear and loud enough.

it's not only the iDock that had the white-noise-at-full-volume-at-any-output-level problem.
I got it with the ios apps: "Camera", "iMovie", and maybe some others...my ears were ringing and dulled too much by that point to keep track.

So, Apple had better check it out before they update ios again!

Also the 3rd party vendors have a responsibility to keep ahead of these things Especially when it comes to the health of the clients!

The fact that distributors were still selling it well after the problem started without any warnings (as mine did to me) is also quite disturbing.

It's all also a lesson that unregulated businesses will try to get away with nearly anything!

I'm ready but too spooked to try my iDock again! Should I?

    Hi All on this topic.
I know we are all very P!$$ed off at this situation.
But it would be good to get an indication of who is not happy with how the iODock is working on ios 5.1? I know im not happy with that was supposed to be a fix.

We gotta band together and be a little more clear on what our problems are.

I believe 5.1 has done 80% of fixing the problem but when I was using Apogee Jam tests last night I did get the good old High Pitch noise when I removes the Apple connection before the headphone Jack. So watch out for this.
I dont think reording quality is a clear as it once was on ios 4.3.3

What I am going to do as a test. My mate has a Ipad with ios 4.3.3
I am going to set up in garage band a few amp tests identical on each ipad and use my IO Dock to see is My Ipad on 5.1 gets the same quality of recording as the 4.3.3 ipad.

This will give us a very clear indication of whats happening and if 1) its the same and if not 2) what we need to get back to (If possible)
If not possible I think allesis have to push apple to somehow ok Us users to move back to 4.3.3 (Cant see that happening)

If this cant be done I mean the AmpDock has got to be having the same problems right? And if the amp dock is not I gotta ask the question why.

We all have to use this to get info, not to say how Bad alesis is, that comes after if it has to be said.

All we need it Alesis to be a little more clear and helpful on what to do. We need instruction. You say you have your ones working 100% I want to mirror this. I have no option to return and I purchased the Ipad for the one purpose of recording with the Io Dock.
Sbangs & Dave we do know your in a rock and hard place right now and its fantastic to see your replys over the last 24H, lets us know that you are trying (Please don’t stop again) Bottom line if, as much as everyone is angry we do need you.
I will run my tests on the 4.3.3 Ipad and the 5.1 ipad and put a video out on you tube.
Then we can really start getting this happening.

My last thought.... IOS 5 is made with Ipad 3 in mind right..... Will the Io Dock work Better with Ipad 3? Has allesis been able to test this? Is the Amp Dock Developed for Ipad 3. I would really like to see some questions answered and am very happy to help out in getting to a solution.

Bottom line is more info from everyone less hacking on each other as its not going to help and its clogging up me in box, lol...... I do believe in the iO Dock. As it once was awesome from what I can remember "Back in the day of good old iOS 4"

Lets get this solved as taking way too long.

THanks all...... I know a novel right.....

I just updated to ios 5.1. Using GarageBand guitar amps seemed fine until I went away for five minutes and the iPad went to sleep. Upon returning and swiping back to GarageBand, I encountered hiss/distortion. Shutdown GarageBand and re-opened and the problem was gone. Just so you know that there seems to be continued problems although not at all like before. Advice?
