Surge kick drum dead after only a month!

Kick drum dead after only a month.
It seems to be a known issue.
Connected kick drum to other inputs, no luck.
Is this the Alesis level of quality?

  • Hello,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry you're having issues with your Surge Mesh Kit.

This isn't something that should happen. Make sure that you aren't using felt beaters with your Surge Kit. Felt kick pedal beaters will damage a mesh kick pad very quickly. Due to the added friction of the felt beater on the mesh pad, the beater will eventually punch a hole in the head. We recommend using a kick beater made of a hard material such as plastic, wood or metal when using a mesh kick pad. Solid rubber kick pads work better with felt beaters but they should never be used on mesh.

Regardless, it sounds like you'll need to service your kit. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum, but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Alesis Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.

Make sure to reference or link this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • So, your saying that the felt kick beater that came with the kit should not have been used?
Now that irratates me even more!
Maybe I should just return this kit and buy one from a competitor!
