I love my alesis hd24.....now I also love developing drum pattens via cubase/EZ drummer and running them through ez drummer into 10 channels on my Mackie 8 bus giving me loads of option with my analogue outboard. Is it possible to sync my Alesis up to cubase and have my Alesis as the master. So for example, when I hit the fast forward on the HD24 cubase moves forwards etc ........I am so use to useing my hd24 through my desk and I want to continue to do that, but it would be great to have drums running through the desk (I have a mackie 8 bus with expander giving me 56 inputs) allowing me to still have 24 channels to use on the alesis instead of having to record the drums on to 8 channels of the alesis setting then in stone as far as arrangment goes......I hope this makes sense?...........

You will want to look at the reference "MMC" (midi machine control). This will allow your DAW (cubase) to send midi signal so the HD24 knows when to start, stop, and where you are in the timeline. http://www.alesis.com/stuff/contentmg...
Here is your manual. Open it and use (command+F) then search "MMC".
This will show you everything you need to do to set up MMC and what the HD24 is capable of.
You will also need to refer to your software manual as well for the "MMC" references. All DAWs set up slightly different. -

Thanks for replying....
Is it possible to do it the other way round.....so Cubase knows when to stop and start when using the Hd24 as the master?.... -

Yes your midi in port can follow MMC or your midi out port can generate MMC.
Press the MIDI button on the HD24’s front panel to scroll between the MIDI function pages. You can also hold the MIDI button down and press the YES (v) or NO (w) buttons to quickly scroll through the pages.
*Send MMC choose (Yes/No) -
